Dr Tomasz Ciamulski
Tomasz Ciamulski is a researcher with multidisciplinary industrial and academics experience in electronics. He is involved in R&D of electronic devices and systems from both hardware and software perspective as well as skilled in combining practical and innovative approach. His passion is effective transfer of research studies to solve industrial challenges.
His main activity areas are electromagnetism and microwave electronics. Broad knowledge and experience allowed him to be also a specialist in digital electronics and programming related to electromagnetic modelling, parallel and real-time processing, embedded systems, and cryptography. These make him prepared to work on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
Tomasz graduated in 2000 from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at Warsaw University of Technology, from which he also earned PhD in 2005 (honours). The PhD thesis is on electromagnetic coupling effects and elimination of signal distortions in high-speed parallel interconnections. He has several technical publications and is a reviewer in IEEE-EMC.
His practical experience comes from work and collaboration with electronics industry since 1997. He was a designer in TechLab Ltd. R&D Company which makes prototypes of electronic devices and systems for manufacturers and other investors. As a researcher he collaborates with QWED, a Polish SME, electromagnetic software company and vendor of worldwide known simulators from QuickWave series. Tomasz also co-authored parts of the QuickWave software tools. He worked in Sweden as the Senior Researcher in EU-ECEMSIM project with international cooperation. The goal of the project was creation of a parallel simulation tool for calculation of complex electromagnetic projects to meet current demands of worldwide industry in microwave area. He currently is the Senior Researcher in Nera Networks, Norway, and leads-off collaboration with Scandinavian and other European universities. Tomasz adapts various research results to develop new technologies in electronics and other industries, where electromagnetic analysis can be helpful.
Marcin Piórek
Marcin Piórek is a telecommunications consultant and engineer with broad area of interests ranging from microwave and RF applications in telecommunications through computer design and modelling to purely IT areas like IP networks, computer technology and communications confidentiality and security.
His professional activities are telecommunications consultancy and engineering. Involved in large projects with operators in Poland, Africa and Europe developed advanced techniques and practices in order to improve quality and security of wireless 2G/3G, WiFi and WiMax networks.
Marcin graduated in 2000 from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at Warsaw University of Technology, his master thesis treated usage and optimization of perfectly matched layers for FDTD electromagnetic simulation applications.
His professional experience started with Centertel/Poland where for several years he was a radio planning and optimization engineer in 2G/3G and WLAN networks. After a few years he left the country, travelled around the world providing consultancy services and sharing his professional expertise with wireless operators in Africa and Europe, most recent one being Belgacom Mobile Group in Brussels/Belgium. Marcin’s passion is combining RF and microwave techniques with digital technologies such as wired and wireless communication networks, with the special emphasis on system immunity to security threats.
His hobbies are equally broad as his professional interests. Marcin’s leisure activities include tweaking of high end gaming computers, regular and astronomical photography, he is a fan of HAM radio activities and a licensed radio amateur himself - SQ5DAH. His other hobbies are biking, mountain hiking and travelling.
